Little school vs big school
In the little school you had to wait for the garbage can to come around before you could go for recess and you could not leave the school grounds unless you had a note or if you were a town and it was lunch. In the big school you can eat your lunch and then throw out your trash and go walk around the town or go buy some food or candy up at the store or ice cream at the crème. Or go get a hot chocolate or coffee at Bricington’s.
At the little school you could walk around without getting beat up or getting dragged around or picked on. At the big school you accidentally say something wrong you will most likely get beat up.
At the little school you had 8 classes every day. I didn’t like it because you had to short or gym classes and you didn’t have enough time to do anything fun. They also didn’t have any good equipment. At the little school the teachers switched classes and we just sat at our desks waiting for them to get the classroom. In the big school the teachers stay in one class and you switch classrooms.
In the little school you were forced to learn French. I thought it was no fair because the 2 oldest classes grade 5 and 6es got separated and the group got to go with Mr. Gillingham and all they did was make movies. And the group I was in went with Mrs. Soiva and we had to watch like 3 year old French movies and she would stop it every 3 seconds and make us repeat it back to her and it was so boring. I was like the only grade five that had to do it. At the big school you can choose if you take art, French or Dakota and most people choose art. I chose to take art because I hate French class and I would not ever use it in my live. In the little school you had to go outside every recess even if it was cold unless it reached a certain temperature. At the big school you can stay inside and work on homework or play in the gym with all of your friends or play games on the computers. The computer lab at the little school barely worked and was very slow and they froze a lot and it deleted all of your work and then you had to do it again and again. At the little school the work was easy and you didn’t have homework. But in social studies Mrs. Watt made us just learn about maties and when we got to grade 7 every one didn’t know what she was talking about and she said that we should have learned some of this stuff in grade 6.
In the little school you could buy hot dogs on Tuesday and Thursday but then they said you could only buy hotdogs every Thursday and in the canteen there was chocolate bars, chips and chocolate milk. But then they said no more chocolate bars and chips and replaced with healthy food. Then people stopped buying from the canteen and they barely made money for field trips. At the big school they have specials every Thursday and they come with a drink and desert and they are really good. They are only 5 dollars for a special and a lot of people buy them. They also sell chips, beef jerky, soup and gum.
When we were in the little school you had no choice if you had a break during classes you get to do that when you are in grade 9, 10, 11 and 12.
I like the big school because in track and field you can go in 100 meter dash, 200, 400, 800, 1500, triple jump, long jump, relay, shot put, discis and high jump. I want to go in shot put, discis, 100 meter dash, high jump and relay. In discis I can throw it about 16 meters to about 20 meters if I am lucky. I like it because I am pretty good at it and I had just started yesterday. Lance and Mrs. Gervin showed me how to throw the discis right. In the little school you had 100 meter dash, 200, 400, 800, 1500 and relay for running. There is high jump and ball throw, long jump and triple jump. In the little school you had tabloid day and jump rope for heart and a lot more stuff that wasted class time. In the big school you go to zones which is hard to make depending on how good everyone is and which you go in like boys doubles, singles and girls doubles.
